AUSTRIA, Fürstenfeld – July 2022 – Nidec Global Appliance, a platform of Nidec Corporation, visited Austria’s Federal Minister for Digital and Economic Affairs Martin Kocher, the Austrian business agency and the funding association FFG on July 13th. During the meeting, Valter Taranzano, Nidec Global Appliance’s CEO & President, and company executives presented the plan to invest over 50 million euros in the next 5 years in the manufacturing plant and Research & Development (R&D) Center in Fürstenfeld, Austria. Nidec aims to enhance its production lines, promote new improvements in its R&D Center, and start new research and development projects through existing cooperation with universities and institutions in order to continue being an industrial reference in the country and foster innovation in the region. The minister pointed out that “research and development are crucial factors to ensure a prosperous development for the future of the Austrian economy. On this note, we are proud to provide a broad range of research funding opportunities in the country.”
“We took the opportunity of this visit to show that Nidec Global Appliance is an important global player and that we are committed to the development of our Austrian site”, says the company’s CEO & President. As of June 2020, when Nidec acquired the Fürstenfeld unit, investments of approximately 9 million euros were done to implement new production lines and modernize the existing ones to be flexible to manufacture different products. Since then, the unit generated 300 new jobs for the region, hiring professionals to work in the R&D Center and in the production of compressors and motors. The facility currently has an annual production capacity of 4 million compressors and 1.6 million Nidec motors.
“Nidec Global Appliance Austria is a production site that supports and sustains our strategy of local production for local customers. And we plan for it to be an even more important innovation center not only inside the Nidec group but also a reference for the country”, states Taranzano. “Having the government’s support and partnership is a key element to bring these plans into reality, and to foster this region as a strategic position, in terms of innovation and industrial production”, he adds.
