According to the United Nations Environment Program 2010, hydrocarbon usage is projected to more than double from 2012 to 2020 (33% to 75%).

As Embraco is continuously working on technologies and products that deliver the best solutions for the market needs and trends, we had already manufactured hydrocarbon compressors for more than two decades. Our expertise allows us to develop the best technologies worldwide, with low impact for the planet.

Also, the hydrocarbon systems help significantly reduce energy consumption compared to synthetic fluids in commercial applications. To bolster our position on this subject, we participated in ATMOsphere America 2013 in Washington, D.C. An event created for industry experts to meet and discuss natural refrigerant trends, latest technologies and regulatory issues in the U.S. and Canada. Doug Schmidt, our sales manager for commercial products in North America, shared the case on dealing with the 150g Propane (R-290) charge limit at the event in his presentation titled, "Conquering the Barriers of HC Technology."

"The 150g maximum allowable propane charge covers a variety of unitary, plug-in refrigeration applications, and the industry is working on a variety of solutions to work within it," Schmidt said. Among those solutions, Schmidt proposed using a two, separate, circuit approach.
